Education

Technology in the classroom is a good class for the education program but I wish we could be more hands on with equipment like the elmo for use in the classroom. More than likely, most of the things I have learned I will not remember the majority of from this class when I am an actual teacher. It's aggragvating feeling like a class and/or other classes are wasting time teaching me about things I will never use in a classroom.

I do agree with you on the part about being more hands on that would be a lot more interesting! I think it is easier to learn when you learn through experimenting.

Being more hands on could be helpful, but at the same time you have to assert yourself and try to remember everything from these classes. There has been a lot that you could remember and could help you down the road, you just have to try to remember it.

I think CI 350 is a fairly hands-on class. I know I've done alot more actual work than note-taking, and most of the things we've worked with will be essential teaching tools. I agree that most classes should be more interactive, but alot of it involves the interest that you have in a particular subject. For example, I just can't get myself interested in educational psychology (that's probably a bad thing)and I forget alot of the things we discuss in EDF 319.

Well, I do not agree with you at all. Not TOO much will change in 2-3 years. I mean, yes technology is always changing, but I am assured that the technology that we are learning now is only enriching our minds. My mother is a teacher and although she isn't priviledged to teach in a model school where she has an abundance of technology to work with, she attends many trainings and recieves technology devices to use for her classroom. Usually, all she has to to is request things from her county BOE and she gets grants for them. It's how much you want to put into your teaching and if you are devoted enough to getting technology in your classroom.

This is the point of this class, we're learning wonderful things about how to teach our future students so they can learn BETTER!

i know. i wish that instead of talking about tech. we could actually use it while we were learning to be teachers

i agree with you to a certain level, but also think that we have done hands on things in this class and i know that ive already learned a lot of new skills that will better my classroom in the future

I do agree with the hands on part it would be way more intersting and I wish they would teach me how to use a smart board before i create a lesson plan with it.

I agree with you. I think I'd be more confident when I did my assignments if I'd had a bit more hands on instruction. For example, I watched all that Photoshop shizit but when I went to do I had a heck of a time, and it made me cry.

I think we do a lot of hands on stuff outside of class, but I do agree that it would be helpful to use the technology like the smart board and projectors and stuff. I am definitely technology- impaired and it would help : )

More in class work would be nice but all the assignments make you use the programs we're learning about in class so I think it's hands-on enough.

hands-on would be nice for the kinesthetic learners.

I do agree that the majority of things that are taught in this class will be forgotten. However, this is true of most classes. There is no way to remember the majority of things all the time. Most information is not fully forgotten though. You think you've forgotten it, but when you get back into the programs it will all slowly come back. There are programs that I haven't used in years. If I had to use one of those programs today, I wouldn't be as fast as my best but I wouldn't be completely lost either.
